One day, however, I noticed that my subscriptions were missing the pictures, and were instead replaced by words "". That was weird, I thought, because I don't remember changing the setting to not display images. Xanga gave options to not display for those with slow downloading speed (e.g. 56Kbps, or mobile phones), but I never turned on that option. Turns out others were experiencing the same thing. One possible explanation for it that I came up with is that they are trying to cut costs by saving on bandwidth. That pretty much said it all. After that incident, I checked Alexa.com to see the traffic to Xanga, and it sure has fallen a lot in the past few years. At this rate, it seemed like Xanga was going to go out of business.
So I had find a new home for my writings. Out of slew of choices, I decided to go with bloggers, because since I already have a Google account, I thought I'd just connect it to it (Blogger is owned by Google). Because of Google's burgeoning empire, it seemed unlikely that they'll go under any time soon.
So here I am, ready to blog, and this is my first post.
